At last, it’s time to buy a formal dress. , there are some critical things to bear in mind. . You do not want to be wearing velvet if the room is going to be overly warm. Similarly you don’t want a thin chiffon costume which will show goose bumps because you are freezing. Wear something you will be comfortable in, which is always essential
Next, consider the style. This should flatter your figure and enhance your personality. Choose something fussy if you like being the center of attention, have an outgoing personality, or love meeting people. But remember that you are likely to be photographed so don’t be too outrageous. You don’t want your future to be haunted by those photographs. Conversely choose something tasteful and refined, if you are a shy type. Choose a style in which you can be comfortable.
You should also look carefully and honestly at your figure when choosing the style of your formal prom gown. Very few of us have a perfect figure, most have at least a few pounds somewhere that they wish they didn’t have. Don’t fool yourself that you can diet/exercise to be rid of it by prom night – you won’t. Rather select a costume that will hide the extra inches and emphasise your asets. Do not wear a tight fitting costume if you are on the heavy side, frills and ruffles will only tend to draw attention to your inperfections so don’t wear them. Do not wear a tight or very low cut dress if you are large on top, it will do you no favours. You want to look glamorous on your special night, so don’t adopt the edict of ‘If you have it – Flaunt it. That does not apply on prom night and is only likely to embarass you.One other thing, if you fancy a striped material, make sure the stripes go the correct way. Horizontal stripes tend to make you look shorter and fatter, Vertical stripes tend to make you look taller and thinner. Stripes can be a good way of hiding the fact that your hips are large or that you are challenged in the bust department.
Color is very crucial. It should look good on you and enhance your skin tone.Avoid Royal Blue if you have a very pale complexion, you will appear to be even paler. Also avoid pale colors, they will look insipid and you will fade into the background, and on this special evening that is the last thing you want to do. You may look good in deep reds pinks or greens. Try your favorite color. You should find the color which makes you feel special.Orange and reds best suit redheads, and greens can really look good. Look at your eyes, why not try enhancing their colour by wearing the same colour for your dress.
Be open minded when you start looking for your prom dress. Try everything, before you dismiss it. The most essential thing, though is that you should enjoy wearing your prom gown. You need to feel special on your special night If you don’t, try something else.
