How A Model Made Workboots Chic

Fashion has everything to do with image and very little to do with substance. A designer dress can make an otherwise normal woman look extraordinary. Conversely, a supermodel can make an ordinary pair of boots look fashionable.

A good example of this is the famous supermodel known as Jenn. As everybody knows, Jenn was discovered at the tender age of fifteen and by the time she was in her twenties, she was one of the most sought-after models in Paris. Then she really made it big when she got a contract with one of the biggest cosmetic labels in the world. All she had to do was apply some Lancome eye cream, smile and speak a few words into the camera.

Success like that can ruin a person, but Jenn was no ordinary model. She was a salt-of-the-earth type who didn’t take herself all that seriously. She loved traveling and seeing the world more than she liked being famous.

She loved everything about traveling, but she especially loved wilderness travel. She would get as far away from civilization as she could and hike in remote areas wearing a pair of old leather brown boots. She never went anywhere without those boots. To her, they were far better than high fashion.

Jenn had just returned from an African safari when it happened. She checked into a deluxe Nairobi hotel and went up to her room for a nice hot shower. After her shower, she did her hair, put on a little makeup and threw on a nice skirt and blouse. She didn’t feel like wearing heels, though, so she just put on her boots and went downstairs.

She went out onto the street and went for a walk through the fashionable district of the city. While Jenn was browsing, a leather watch captured her attention. It was a perfect match with her boots, so she went inside and bought it. The purchase put her in a good mood, so she called her friends and told them to meet her in the hotel bar.

A photographer outside the bar noticed her and knew who she was. He took a photograph of her as she was checking her new watch. A week later, the picture was on the cover of a major New York magazine. A couple of weeks after that, the streets of New York, London and Paris were filled with girls wearing brown workboots.

And that wasn’t the end of it! The boots were the first thing to catch on, but there was a sudden increase in sales of watches that looked like hers, too. Jenn’s manager had the bright idea to have watches made. They called them the ‘Jennwatch’ and soon they were being sold everywhere.
