This has a better loft to trap air and insulate.
Goose down that is made up of larger clusters provides superior insulation and because it breathes better its insulating properties last a lot longer than smaller down clusters. The smaller more fragile down clusters are used primarily in less expensive imported products whic tend to lose their insulation properties quickly.
Thread count is another term used to describe the fabric quality used to incase the goose down. This is basically the number of threads contained in a square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the finer the yarn used to weave the fabric. Higher thread count fabrics have softness and comfort which is unmatched compared to lower count fabrics.
When purchasing a goose down comforter / duvet its a good idea to check its fill power and thread count, to get a good idea of the quality of the product. With the higher quality goose down comforters you will pay more but for the superior warmth and comfort it’s well worth while. If you are on a budget, put as much as you can towards your purchase as the better the goose down quality the longer the insulation properties will last.
