There are a huge number of people who wear glasses in the UK and abroad, and whilst for some they remain a necessity, for many they’re an in-style fashion accessory. With the summer now here, lots of people are looking for the right look, and your choice of glasses and frame can play a bit part in that.

To that end, here’s a guide to the many different colours of prescription glasses and frames available to buy, to suit your complexion.

Blue: blue is a good choice for people with very dark complexions; if you have red hair, go for a light blue with thin frames. Oakley sunglasses make some really nice light blue frames, so check them out for a good place to start.

Purple: purple (and generally any light, lavender tones) will work well with particularly light complexions. Any darker shades of purple tend to work best with particularly dark hair.

Orange and Yellow: these are tougher colours to wear well, as they tend to clash with lots of different complexions. Probably colours to be avoided but they can work with very dark skin, try some orange or yellow frames if you do have a dark complexion and see how they look against your skin.

Red: red is a great colour for standing out and making a statement. Red heads should avoid the darker shades of red as it will likely clash with their pale complexion. Red heads should go for a very light red frame to properly complement their complexion. If your hair is quite dark, try a strong ruby red, as this tends to work extremely well. Those with a light complexion and light hair should aim for a much softer red, along the lines of watermelon or a pinkish tone.

Green: the absolute best colour for those with red hair, greens work especially well against red (particularly racing green). You should go for a teal colour if you a dark complexion, or even a deep lime to fully accentuate your features. Those with lighter complexions should opt for a peppermint shade, as they should be staying away from the darker colours in general.

Pink: pink is a good colour for those with dark complexions, although they can also work well with a lighter complexion in very light shades.
