Pajamas have long been a standard part of the wardrobe in both America and Europe.  That was until the late eighties and most of the nineties.  Duing that time wearing pajamas was suddenly uncool.  Pajamas were traded in for the more comfortable shorts and t-shirt.  But recent trends from online pajamas seller Alexander Del Rossa indicate that both men’s pajamas and women’s pajamas are increasingly becoming part of pop culture’s standard wardrobe.

“Things were very slow for us during the nineties.  Especially for the 20s and 30s age groups,” says Travis Artz the co-owner and COO of the Del Rossa brand.  “But starting around 2004 things started ramping up again and in the last three years especially, we’ve seen our sales jump up to levels not seen since the seventies.”

The sales of men’s pajamas and women’s pajamas from brands like Alexander Del Rossa are not the only brands seeing increases in pajamas sales.  According to Google Trends, the keyword pajamas has been steadily increasing year over year for the past seven years.

“We’ve gotten a lot of requests from customers that are part of pajamas parties, but I doubt that’s what is behind this sharp increase in interest over the past few years.  Instead,” the owner of the Del Rossa brand explains, “I think American and especially European culture are returning to a more conservative sense of fashion.  Pajamas are only one small part of this phenomenom.  Bob haircuts, longer skirts and retro-style cars are all increasing in popularity.”

Whatever the reason behind this shift, it is increasingly clear that pajamas are coming back into style in a big way.  Online sellers of every type of pajamas from men’s satin pajamas to one piece footed pajamas are all seeing their style’s sales on the rise.  One must only wonder if its only a matter of time before they fade out of style once more.  Until then, we hope sellers like Del Rossa and others ride the wave of pajamas popularity as long as possible.
